Here are some of the Projects and Activities we're working on. If you're interested in helping, or have some other ideas, let us know!
Our first Neighborhood Cleanup was held Saturday morning, May 22. Eight of us donned our reflective vests and drove to Bert Winters Park and headed out to Ellison Wilson Road to do some trash pickin'.
We found a fair amount of bottles and cans and general trash, and a surprising amount of styrofoam "peanuts" used for packing and shipping. Then we dropped our trash bags at the town's Public Works yard, who weighed the trash collected at about 50 pounds.
On June 19, we went out again with a smaller crew, but we still filled 4 trash bags with about 25 pounds of trash.
Cleanups were also held the third Saturday in July and September and are planned to continue on the third Saturday of every month, so hope you can join us!
Attention Nature Fans! Cindy Black headed up a Members Kayak Tour in March. See the Kayak Tour page for details and photos.
We're planning on looking at the Walkability of different parts of town to see what improvements can be made. We all love our cars, but most of us like to walk where we can for the exercise, to meet our neighbors, or just to get out of the house. Check our Meeting Schedule and join us as we take a good look at our sidewalks, lighting, crosswalks, etc. in your neighborhood.
Walkability Checkup along US 1
A Project Review Committee has been formed to study the FDOT plans for repaving US 1 throughout Juno Beach. Members interested in helping out should contact Will Weber, Committee Chairman at 561-802-6141.
This project, currently being designed by the Engineers at Kimley-Horn and the Landscape Architects at Cotleur-Hearing will include new sidewalks along US 1, adding curbing and bike lanes in some areas, and crosswalk, signalization, signing, and striping changes. It will affect all areas of our town, so resident opinions of these plans are certainly needed. Contact Will to get involved!
Planning is now underway for group Walking Tours of some of the more interesting areas in and around Juno Beach. Don Felicella is heading up this effort, and we'll have more details posted here soon!
Are Doggie Droppings a problem in your neighborhood? Join our Pet Patrol Committee to look into doggie bag stations.
Other projects mentioned by our members include improving our beach access areas, and litter cleanups. Your ideas on these, and others you may think of are welcome!
